Today was an average day. Had its moments, I guess you could say. (I’m such a poet, lol)

One of these moments was that the washing-machine dude showed up at ten, as promised. What a pleasant guy. Turns out the spring on our machine just needed a bit of lube. He put some Vaseline on it, and ever since then it’s been going like a dream. I asked him how much I owed him, and he said ‘nothing’. He maintained he hadn’t done anything. I said I at least wanted to pay his petrol money, which he accepted. So it cost us R40 and our w.machine is good as new. I’m so relieved. I thought it was going to set us back hundreds.

I felt really tired today. The whole day. Tried not to drag myself around walk too much, as it puts strain on my hips. The thing is, I really don’t feel like going to JHB tomorrow. I’d actually like to just be left alone for a while, spend a whole day in bed. But there’s no way out of it, if I want to be on the trials. And I really do. If I can just get through the next three months then it will be all right. After the third month, I only have to go once every three months for a checkup, which won’t be so bad.

At least I’ll get to visit with Annie a bit, which I think will be a lot of fun. I miss my sister so damn much sometimes. We’re gonna have some real quality time. Hopefully I’ll feel more energetic tomorrow, and hopefully the mild headache I have will p*ss off, too.

Michael has a bit of a sore throat. I really hope he isn’t getting sick. He is getting along so nicely with his training for the cycle tour. He’s gearing up to do a really good time, so I hope he’s not getting flu.

I’m reading the quaintest little book, The Tavern on Maple Street by Sharon Owens. I love a charming book, and this one is very big on charm. I have a permanent smile on my face as I read it, and a lovely warm feeling in my stomach. Wish I could bottle that feeling.

I haven’t been swimming or Chi Kunging the last couple of days, because I feel so knackered. And it’s a vicious circle. Must make a plan!

Saturday is myself and Michael 6th wedding anniversary. That’s one reason I’m glad I’m going with  to JHB, so at least I can spend the whole day with him. It’s been a brilliant 6 years. I could not have asked for a better bloke.

I’m playing quite a kick-ass Minute Waltz, if I do say so myself. I’m so glad I persevered with it. I never would have thought it possible, but my fingers are getting more dextrous at it by the day. It’s actually starting to sound not-that-far from the recorded version.

  1. “He maintained he hadn’t done anything.”

Well, there is the matter of Intellectual Property … but it’s nice to see an honest man can still roam the earth.

  3. Nice that you got an honest repair man! Reminds me of that old story where an expensive piece of specialise factory equipment broke down, and expert was called in and he tightened a bolt, which fixed the problem. He then presented his bill of $100 000. The factory owner was livid and demanded how the repair could cost that much. He said he wanted an itemised bill. The consultant complied and produced the following invoice: “For tightening bolt, five cents. For knowing which bolt to tighten, $99,999.95.” 🙂

Congrats on the excellent progress with your music, you’ll have to put some YouTube videos up so we can all enjoy it.

Hearty congrats for your Anniversary on Saturday. I hope you have a wonderful day together. 6 years is good going, and it’s wonderful to hear what close friends you 2 still are.
