Blogging Bunny-style

I did something strange today.

Or maybe it isn’t strange, maybe other people do it every day. Especially Lebanese people.

I made Tabbouleh.

I’ve never eaten it, or even seen it before, but it is supposed to be a delicious and healthy salad from the Middle East, made with bulgar wheat, fresh parsley and mint, lemon juice, garlic, tomato, onion and olive-oil. Recipe here.

I’ve been noodling the idea around in my head for some time, after reading the recipe online. I’m always on the lookout for tasty and nutricious recipes to make. I don’t always get so far as to actually make them, lol. But I’m always on the lookout.

Anyway, when I saw some organic parsley and organic mint at our local Pick ‘n Pay the other day, I had to give it a go.

So I made it this morning, and it is currently chilling in the fridge, letting the flavours ‘soak in’. We will have it for lunch with lamb chops and mashed potato. I’ll let y’all know how that works out. Smells wonderfully garlicky and minty 🙂 Which may or may not be a good thing 🙂

Okay. Verdict time:

I wasn’t that keen on it, truth be told. Maybe I could acquire a taste for it, but I found it a little too ‘earthy’ for my tastes. Too wholesome, lol. I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised at the sharp taste – I mean, I saw how much lemon juice went into it. My saliva glands are working just typing this out, lol.

Michael, on the other hand, loved it.

It was certainly pretty.

Michael says he enjoyed it with the lamb chop and mashed potato…

I’m still not convinced about it. But it did remind me of Christmas, with all that mint in 🙂

We’ll be having the leftovers for supper, with cheese-puffs and veggies.
